GST Registration Documents Required — Complete 2024 Checklist
Submitting the correct documents is the single most important step in getting GST registration approved without rejection or delay. Here is the complete, up-to-date checklist by business type.
GST registration is a relatively straightforward process — but it gets delayed or rejected in a large number of cases simply because the applicant submitted incorrect documents, wrong file formats, or missed a required item. This guide gives you the exact documents you need, organised by your business type.
Documents Required for ALL Business Types
These documents are needed regardless of your business structure:
- PAN Card — of the business entity or sole proprietor. PAN must match the name on the GST application exactly.
- Aadhaar Card — of the proprietor, all partners, or all directors. Aadhaar-based e-KYC is used to verify identity. Mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar for OTP verification.
- Photograph — passport-size photograph of proprietor/each partner/each director. JPG format, under 100 KB.
- Bank Account Details — cancelled cheque or bank statement with account number, IFSC code, account holder name, and bank name clearly visible.
- Business Address Proof — see options below.

What Happens After Submission?
Once you submit the application with all correct documents, the GST portal issues an ARN (Application Reference Number) within 15 minutes. You can track status using the ARN. A GST officer reviews the application within 3–7 working days and either approves (issuing GSTIN) or sends a query (Form GST REG-03) if something is missing.
If a query is raised, you have 7 working days to respond. We track all ARNs and respond to queries on your behalf. WhatsApp us and share your documents — we handle everything from ₹1,499.
